Welcome Limabuddies & Chicks!

Yes, here it is! This is our place. The Limabuddies united. The Chickies reunited!

By the way, I found Lima after the chicks were formed. I had no idea what the "chicknames" were all about. Thank you for the history lesson, puppychick & CAS!

This is an introductory post to go over a few requests & dare I say, rules?

My vision statement:
To blab & gush about gems & jewels, to support & encourage one another in our art, to freely share our expertise including tutorials if you like, and to expand our friendships & create new ones.

This is not a platform to sell our wares. I'll assume we all create jewelry or would like to do so. I don't want to buy your stuff & you don't want to buy mine. (But if you do, please visit my Etsy shop--JGBRainbowDesigns!). Yes, I'll be happy to share links to your commercial sites. Just no sales pitch here...

I will try my best to stay on top of the blog. But I do have a life that includes jewelry design & construction. Oh, and a wonderful husband! And two adult daughters who no longer live at home yet have access to my time & love whenever they desiređź’–

This is my first blog so be gentle!

Now let's go!

  4. This is very cool. Thank you so much Moogie. It did take me a few minutes to figure out how to enter and comment - not a tech wizard by any means.

  6. Thanks Moogie! I have been loving your Kumihimo designs and went and bought a disk a few weeks ago. I just made my first braid and figured out how to finish the ends (no beads). I enjoyed doing this. You do lots of these and add beads to yours. I have wondered what size beads you use for the rattail cord. I would like to try a braid with beads. The rattail I have is 1.5. My closest bead store is about an hour away and I wondered if there was a chart or if you know what size seed beads would fit the 1.5 size of rattail. Otherwise, I'll have to go for a drive... :)

  7. I like to use 1mm satin cord with 6/0 seed beads. If you have some you can see if they'll fit your 1.5mm cord. Do you have a book on Kumi? If you need info, I'm thinking of doing a separate post on beginning kumihimo. Yea?

  8. I tried my 6/0 seed beads and they don't fit. I found the pamphlet that came with the disk, but it only shows without beads. I don't have a book, but it might be a good item to purchase one. All the online resources I have seen with beads use 1mm satin cord or C-Lon or S-Lon. I would love to see a post on beginning kumihimo! :)
